[Sportschosun George Young] The sci-fi thriller film "HOPE" (directed by Na Hong-jin, produced by Forged Films) has raised expectations by releasing a making-of teaser packed with sweat and tears.

"HOPE" is a pure action film completed with traditional techniques, while also featuring a highly advanced 3D creature. The film set out to create a classic action movie in which all stunts are performed and filmed by the actors themselves, without CGI assistance, just like action films from the 20th century.

It also took on a new challenge by introducing the 3D creature in broad daylight. Through the clash between the 3D creature, created with facial capture and motion capture, and the raw action created by humans, "HOPE" aims to deliver an unprecedented cinematic experience while reinforcing its concept of conflict between aliens and humans.

This making-of teaser captures the production team’s intense process and efforts to bring together those two genres. Viewers can see the exciting action filming process behind "HOPE," including a camera slider system that can move at 200 kilometers per hour, bike cam shots, and specially built wire cam equipment.

The teaser also reveals, for the first time, the motion capture and facial capture sessions filmed in Korea with overseas actors including Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton. This heightens curiosity about the film’s 3D creature. Michael Fassbender said of "HOPE" that it was "very original and unlike anything I had seen before." Alicia Vikander, who said she really likes Na Hong-jin’s films and that they are "highly artistic, entertaining, and thrilling," leaves a strong impression with her immersive performance.

Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton also draw viewers in with delicate facial acting and fearless physical performances that help bring the 3D creature to life.

"HOPE" tells the story of the head of the Hopo Port branch office in the DMZ who hears from local young people that a tiger has appeared. As the entire village goes on alert, the story unfolds as he encounters an unbelievable reality. The film stars Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender. Na Hong-jin, the director of "The Chaser," "The Yellow Sea," and "The Wailing," is at the helm. It will be released on July 15.
