New Jeans → BLACKPINK's sexual exploitation deepfake culprits are teenagers and 20 victims of the crime ↑
Teens who made and sold illegal deepfake compounds of famous female celebrities were caught by police.

The cyber investigation department of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency said on the 19th that it arrested three people, including the producer and seller A, on charges of violating the Youth Protection Act (for-profit sales of children and adolescents).

In addition, 24 people, including B (teen) and C (twenties), who purchased illegal compounds and watched them, were arrested on charges of violating the Youth Protection Act (such as the possibility of purchasing children and adolescents).

From November last year to July this year, A and others created a tagalog channel and uploaded 1,380 illegal composites that synthesized the faces of female celebrities into nude photos. He then committed the crime by receiving an admission fee of about 20,000 won per person and giving the channel address to the person who wanted to purchase it.

In April, the police, who have been investigating after obtaining information that illegal compounds of deepfake were distributed, arrested A and others sequentially and confiscated 1 million won in criminal proceeds that A had. In addition, 24 people who purchased illegal composites from A were prevented from being re-dispersed by confirming whether they had illegal composites and then deleting them. So far, there is no circumstance of the second distribution.

The police are continuing their investigation into additional buyers as it has been confirmed that more than 100 people entered the Talegram channel created by A and others.

Currently, the music industry is fighting a war against deepfakes.

YG Entertainment, which includes singer Kwon Eun-bi's agency Woollim Entertainment, TWICE's agency JYP Entertainment, Blackpink Baby Monster, (G)I-DLE's agency Cube Entertainment, and New Jeans' agency Adore have declared a strong response to illegal deepfake compounds.
