[Sportschosun Jung Bit reporter] Broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo's 100 million won donation has become a strong support for helping youth preparing for independence stand on their own in a healthy way.
Jun Hyun-moo attended the launch event for the "Healthy First Steps Project for Youth Preparing for Independence" in person on the 17th at the Health Checkup center of Gangnam Severance Hospital, Yonsei University Health System, as a sponsor, adding warmth to the occasion.
The project was planned based on the 100 million won donation Jun Hyun-moo made to his alma mater, Yonsei University Health System, last November to mark his birthday.
His meaningful donation has gone beyond helping cover medical expenses for children and adolescents with pediatric cancer and rare, incurable diseases who urgently need financial support. It is now helping build a practical health management foundation for youth preparing for independence, who take their first steps into the world after state protection ends at age 18.
Jun Hyun-moo, who also attended the event and encouraged the young participants, said, "I hope my small contribution can become a warm source of support for young people who have to face the world alone at an early age and serve as encouragement for their new beginning. I will continue to pay attention so they can grow into confident members of society."
Through this project, which began with Jun Hyun-moo's initial support, a total of 25 youth preparing for independence selected by YANA Ministry will receive comprehensive health checkups. The hospital plans to continue supporting their health in various ways after the examinations. Kim Yong-wook, director of Gangnam Severance Hospital, expressed his gratitude, saying, "It is meaningful to be able to give these young people, who are taking their first steps into society, the precious asset of 'health,' which is more important than anything else."
Above all, this is not the first time Jun Hyun-moo has done good deeds. In 2018, he donated 100 million won to support the lives of single mothers and joined the Honor Society of the Community Chest of Korea. In 2020, he also donated 100 million won to support medical care for vulnerable groups in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, which were hit hard by COVID-19.
In 2021, he donated 10 million won from the proceeds of the Mumu Auction charity bazaar on MBC's "I Live Alone" to youth in self-reliance support programs. In 2022, he also delivered 100 million won to help recover from wildfire damage in Uljin County, North Gyeongsang Province, and Samcheok. Even amid his busy broadcasting schedule, he has continued volunteering at shelters for abandoned dogs and supporting treatment costs.
Jun Hyun-moo's steady spirit of giving has once again produced meaningful results through this health support project for youth preparing for independence, drawing attention.
