[Sportschosun, Kim Soo-hyun] Actress Ahn Sun-young was deeply saddened by her mother, who was diagnosed with dementia eight years ago and has been gradually losing her memory due to cognitive impairment.
On the 18th, a video titled "How Much Does a Mother With Dementia Remember Her Daughter?" was uploaded to Ahn Sun-young's YouTube channel.
While traveling by car that day, Ahn Sun-young asked her mother, "How old is your daughter?"
Her mother paused to think for a moment, then struggled to answer, saying, "How old is she now... I don't know."
Ahn Sun-young showed her own face and asked, "How old do I look?" but her mother, whose cognitive abilities had already declined, avoided the question, saying, "My thoughts got all tangled up."
Understanding her mother's feelings, Ahn Sun-young told her, "Sun-young is 50. Your daughter is in her 50s now."
Her mother lamented, "You're old," and added, "I don't know because you're someone who lives forgetting me."
Feeling upset, Ahn Sun-young seemed to hold back her tears, swallowing any further questions as her eyes grew red.
