[Sportschosun reporter Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Shin Min-a revealed an unexpected desire to be funny, showing off a surprising new side.
On the 19th, a video titled "Can a gumiho be the queen of laughter? Shin Min-a too?" was released on the YouTube channel "I Have Nothing Prepared, But..."
In the episode, Shin Min-a, who is usually known for her calm and elegant image, revealed a hidden ambition for variety entertainment and drew laughter.
At one point, Shin Min-a said, "I know a few trendy phrases these days," and suddenly brought up "Shagal." When Lee Young-ji asked, "Out of all those new slang terms, why Shagal?" Shin Min-a honestly admitted, "Actually, I don't even know what it means," sending everyone into laughter.
Shin Min-a explained, "It kept showing up at the beginning or end of videos while I was watching Reels," and added, "So I got curious." She also made Lee Young-ji laugh even more by saying, "I have a niece born in 2005, and my older sister uses a lot of that kind of slang."
Even in the middle of conversations, Shin Min-a kept shouting "Shagal" whenever she got the chance, drawing laughter. When Lee Young-ji joked, "So when you have a lot on your mind, can you just say 'Shagal' and move on?" Shin Min-a eagerly copied her, saying, "I should start using it from now on," and showed off her unexpected charm.
Lee Young-ji could not hold back her laughter and said, "Who says they know a lot of trendy phrases and then leads with 'Shagal' first?" She added that Shin Min-a's quirky side had given her "a completely new charm today."
During their conversation, Lee Young-ji also said, "Shin Min-a seems like someone who really wants to be funny." In response, Shin Min-a said, "When I go to a new set, I sometimes tell jokes on purpose to lighten the mood," but added, "Still, when the atmosphere gets awkward, there are times I think, 'That's not what I meant at all.'"
Lee Young-ji then joked, "A lot of people think of Shin Min-a as just pretty and quiet, but she actually seems to have quite a strong desire to be funny," adding, "She keeps emphasizing, 'I'm naturally a funny person,'" which drew more laughter.
In fact, Shin Min-a protested, "I'm really a funny person. Everyone around me says I'm funny," and confidently added, "Even in my family, I'm the one in charge of being funny."
But Lee Young-ji offered a sharp analysis, saying, "The biggest problem with Shin Min-a is that she laughs at her own jokes first." She continued, "She laughs before the joke lands, so people miss the timing." Shin Min-a readily agreed, saying, "That's actually so true," turning the set into a sea of laughter.
