"Divorced at 66," Lee Mi-sook says no to pressuring her 40-year-old unmarried son to marry: "I don't see the need"

[Sportschosun Lee Ge-eun] Actress Lee Mi-sook said marriage is a personal choice, not something parents should force on their children.

On the 26th, a video titled "Mi-sook's Laugh Button On, Meeting Kwon Hyuk-soo and Kim Gyu-won, Belly Button Gone (SNL Behind-the-Scenes Story)" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Lee Mi-sook_Sook's Embarrassing Mi-sook."

That day, Lee Mi-sook met and spoke with Kwon Hyuk-soo and Kim Gyu-won, whom she got to know through their appearance on Saturday Night Live Korea.

Kwon Hyuk-soo said he was worried about when to get married, adding that Kim Gyu-won wants to marry soon while he prefers to enjoy his youth first. Lee Mi-sook then brought up her 40-year-old son, saying, "There is no set time for marriage. My son still hasn't gotten married."

Lee Mi-sook made her position clear, saying, "I don't tell my son to get married or not to get married. If you ask me how I see marriage, I simply don't feel the need for it. There was a time when people chose marriage because their parents wanted it, not because it was their own choice. But now, a person's own opinion matters more." She added, "I also think telling someone to get married just because they are older is outdated."

Meanwhile, Lee Mi-sook married a plastic surgeon in 1987 and had one son and one daughter, but the couple divorced in 2007.
