[Sportschosun reporter Jung Yoo-na] Hong Hye-geol and Yeo Esther visited Handam Beach in Jeju and openly shared how they have been recovering from depression while taking a break from daily life.

Hong Hye-geol said, "I forcibly pulled Yeo Esther, who had fallen into depression, outside," adding, "She had stayed in her room for more than a week and came outdoors for the first time today."

The couple spent a relaxed time touring the western coast of Jeju, the Handam Beach cafe street, and Spring Day Cafe. Hong Hye-geol said, "This is a place that calms the mind," underscoring the meaning of the trip.

The video also showed the couple's small everyday conversations. From playful bickering over shopping and spending habits to laughing together while talking about each other's eating habits, their natural interactions were openly shared.

Most notably, Yeo Esther spoke in detail about her treatment for depression. She explained, "I tried several medications, including Lexapro and Pristiq, and found the combination that worked for me." She added, "Medicine does not work right away. It can take more than three to six weeks, and symptoms improve through different combinations. Finding the right medication for me is the most important part."

Hong Hye-geol said, "Through various treatments and medication combinations, my wife's condition gradually stabilized." Yeo Esther also said, "Recently, the bad thoughts have almost disappeared."

To those struggling with depression, Yeo Esther advised, "People say exercise or sunlight is good, but there are times when even that feels impossible." She added, "At such times, it is important to meet a warm and professional psychiatrist and receive consistent treatment." She also noted, "You need to find a good doctor and keep giving feedback on the medication's effects and side effects so it can be adjusted properly."

Meanwhile, Hong Hye-geol and Yeo Esther have been living together in Jeju after reuniting following five years of separation.
