On the 27th, Yoo Seung-jun posted a video on his personal account along with a message that read, "If you ask Koreans living overseas, you will probably hear the same answer. I am a Korean American. There is a reason why 'Korean' comes before 'American.' I am proud of my Korean roots, and I am grateful for the life I have built in the United States. I do not think I have to choose one over the other."
In the video as well, he explained his position on Korea in the form of answers to questions about himself.
Yoo Seung-jun said, "I got this question a lot in the comments. If Korea and the United States played a soccer match, which country would I support? Of course I would support Korea. I obviously support Korea."
He added, "I live in the United States, but as a Korean American, I want Korea to win."
However, the post has since been deleted.
Meanwhile, the South Korea national football team lost 1-0 to South Africa in the third Group A match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the 25th at Estadio Monterrey near Monterrey, Mexico, in Monterrey, Mexico.
