[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Singer Baek Ji-young and actor Jung Seok-won shared a story about an unexpected flood disaster they experienced while they were secretly dating before going public.
On the 27th, a video titled "Why did Baek Ji-young, who bought a luxury mixed-use residence six years after her debut, move to an older apartment?" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Baek Ji-young."
That day, Baek Ji-young and Jung Seok-won visited the production team’s new home and toured the place. While looking around, they shared various stories about their former marital home and real estate experiences.
Baek Ji-young said, "I bought my first home at age 30, six years after my debut," adding, "When I first became independent, I moved into a luxury mixed-use officetel in Gangnam."
Jung Seok-won also recalled the time, saying, "I was really surprised when I first went to Baek Ji-young’s place. From the floor to the parking lot, it had a luxurious atmosphere, like something out of a drama."
After their marriage, however, the couple left the mixed-use residence and moved to an apartment in Cheongdam-dong.
Baek Ji-young explained, "There was a major flood in Gangnam, and that building had a European-style structure, so the generators were located in the basement. As water came in, all the generators stopped, causing a power outage and water outage. After that, the property value started to fall."
Jung Seok-won added, "Most of the cars in the parking lot were also flooded. There were many expensive foreign cars, so the damage was severe."
The situation also created another concern for the two. At the time, they had not yet gone public with their relationship, so even being seen together was something they had to be careful about.
Jung Seok-won said, "We had not gone public with our relationship yet at that time," and added, "We had to move our belongings because of the flood damage, but we did it while being conscious of people around us."
He continued, "We ended up staying at a hotel, and even when we went there, we covered our faces. A number of things happened all at once, including a sudden break in the large glass window."
When the production team described it as "the true face of a luxury officetel," Baek Ji-young laughed and agreed, saying, "It was heartbreaking."
Meanwhile, Baek Ji-young and Jung Seok-won officially acknowledged their relationship in 2011. They married in 2013 and have a daughter, Heim.
