[Sportschosun Lee Woo-joo] Lee Soo-kyung shared her thoughts on having children on 'What to Do with Leftovers.'
Lee Tae-gon and Lee Soo-kyung appeared on the tvN STORY program 'What to Do with Leftovers,' which aired on the 29th.
The two first met through 'Heaven's Promise.' Lee Young-ja recalled, "It was full of controversy and very popular. It wasn't the obvious story we all knew," while Lee Tae-gon said, "The story is complicated."
'Heaven's Promise' opened a new chapter in makjang dramas with its unbelievable storyline about a biological daughter becoming a daughter-in-law. Lee Tae-gon, who drew attention for landing a lead role in his debut project, said, "I was misunderstood a lot. People said I was a parachute hire, or that I was the chairman's nephew. Even newspaper articles said things like, 'Does it make sense for a former commercial model to play the lead in a drama? It will fail.' It made me really angry. I gritted my teeth and did everything I could to make it succeed."
He also said that Im Sung-han's scripts had to be followed exactly as written. Lee Tae-gon explained, "You can't get even one word wrong. That's the writer's style." He added, "She even writes down the exact timing for tears. You can't cry before that. It says, 'One drop here.'"
Lee Soo-kyung asked, "What else was difficult?" Lee Tae-gon replied, "For me, the hardest thing to understand was why I had to cry in a love story. I couldn't understand why I was supposed to feel sad in that situation. Back then, it wasn't so much that I was fully immersed in the character as that Gu Wang-mo and I were in conflict. So the director held me for three hours and tried to convince me. I still wouldn't cry. I'd never cried over a woman before. It was really hard."
Lee Soo-kyung, who once dreamed of getting married at 20, said that after starting work, she began to value her career even more. She also said she avoided dating actors, worrying, "What if we run into each other later?" Lee Tae-gon, however, said, "Surprisingly, you don't run into them that often."
When asked to explain what makes a good man, Lee Soo-kyung said, "You should let him go fishing. You'll know once you take a boat out to the rocks. If the captain doesn't show up for 12 hours, you still have to fish somehow. That's when his personality comes out. If he has no patience, he'll keep looking at his phone and cursing to himself."
Still, Lee Soo-kyung said she definitely wants children. She added, "Because my marriage was delayed, I thought about freezing my eggs, but I gave up because I thought I wouldn't be able to use them after getting married in Korea. I also thought about adoption, but I was told that wouldn't be possible either. They said none of it is allowed before marriage."
Lee Tae-gon also expressed concern, saying, "Men worry a lot too. The age gap with the child would be so big." In response, Lee Soo-kyung made everyone laugh by saying, "Oppa, there's also Mr. Kim Yong-geon."
Lee Tae-gon said he does think about having children, but that it is not a must. He added coolly, "We got married because we love each other, not because we wanted to have a baby. If it happens, it happens. If not, that's fine."
