"Shall We Enjoy an Art Journey?" Art Company Bomi Launches Its Seasonal Regular Performance

Art Company Bomi will open its seasonal regular performance, "Hwain," at 6 p.m. on June 13 at Seoul Namsan Gugakdang. As the program is filled with traditional Korean dance, it offers a good opportunity to enjoy the Korean Wave while also taking in an artistic journey.

According to the company, Hwain is a newly rebranded version of "Myeongmujeon," a signature segment of its representative "Yeonmu Traditional Festival." The title also carries the meaning that dance transforms people. On the Hwain stage, top-tier dancers who have carried on the tradition of Korean dance, including Kim Hyun-ju, will perform. Because artists with the authenticity of different intangible heritage traditions and schools are gathered in one place, audiences can experience the diversity of Korean traditional dance all at once.

Kim Hyun-ju is a practitioner of Dosalpuri-chum. She learned the dance from Yang Gil-sun, a holder of Dosalpuri-chum, and also studied Seoljanggu in the Lee Busan style under Lee Busan, an honorary holder of Samcheonpo Nongak, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Hwain performance will be held as part of the 2026 Yeonmu Dance Festival. It is hosted by Art Company Bomi and organized by the Yeonmu Dance Festival Organizing Committee.
