McDonald's Korea announced on the 22nd that it recently held a Happy Burger Surprise with soccer player Lee Seung-woo. 'Happy Burger' is a flagship social contribution program that delivers a warm meal to local residents.
According to McDonald's Korea, the Happy Burger Surprise held on the 11th invited Lee Seung-woo of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to visit Jeonbuk Physical Education Middle School in Wanju County, North Jeolla Province, and deliver 100 burgers and drinks for the girls' soccer team. Founded in 2024, the Jeonbuk Physical Education Middle School girls' soccer team is the only middle school girls' soccer team in North Jeolla Province. Despite its short history, the team recently finished runner-up at the 2026 Spring Korean Women's Football Federation Tournament. The meeting came about after head coach Hong Jin-a sent a story to McDonald's Korea, hoping to give the players a special show of support ahead of major national competitions.
Lee personally handed out 100 Happy Burgers, made up of McN Cheese Double Beef and drinks, topped with a Soccer Bun shaped like a soccer ball, to the girls' soccer team players and the entire student body. He also served as a one-day coach on site and gave the players a one-point soccer lesson ahead of the national tournament.
A McDonald's Korea official said, "We hope the Happy Burger Surprise will lead to greater attention and support for the only 17 middle school girls' soccer teams in the country," adding, "We also want to express our gratitude to Lee Seung-woo for gladly joining the players as a one-day mentor."
