[Sportschosun reporter Jang Jong-ho] Two sisters in their 20s were arrested by police after throwing hot oil on a restaurant worker and brandishing a knife because their food order came out wrong.

One of the sisters was reportedly nine months pregnant and due to give birth at the time of the incident.

According to U.S. media outlets including the New York Post, Brianna Long, 29, and her sister Kierianna Long, 26, visited a chicken restaurant in Detroit, Michigan, on the 30th of last month local time. When they were served a different dish from the one they had ordered, they began arguing with a 23-year-old female employee.

The situation then escalated into violence. The sisters went behind the counter, threw objects at the employee, and attacked her with cooking tools such as pots and pans. They are also said to have splashed hot oil toward the employee's head.

When the victim fought back by throwing objects, the sisters reportedly grabbed a nearby knife and stabbed the employee in the abdomen.

Prosecutors said one of the sisters also made a threatening remark, saying, "I'll get rid of you."

The stabbed employee was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery and is said to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries. The sisters tried to leave the scene after the attack, but police arrested them.

Brianna Long, the older sister, was nine months pregnant at the time of the incident and is said to have given birth four days before the preliminary hearing.

In court, she pleaded for leniency, saying, "I am innocent, and I have a 4-day-old baby at home."

The sisters' lawyer argued that the restaurant employee reacted dismissively to the order mistake and escalated the dispute by throwing objects first.

However, the court set bail at 25,000 US dollars, or about 38 million won, for one sister and 100,000 US dollars, or about 150 million won, for the other, citing the seriousness of the charges, including assault with intent to murder. Both women have pleaded not guilty to all charges.
