GKL Social Contribution Foundation Promotes Tourism Support for the Visually Impaired Through Sound-Based Travel

The GKL Social Contribution Foundation and Grand Korea Leisure will jointly launch tourism support for people with visual impairments. The program was designed to help vulnerable travelers experience tourism, with a focus on offering travel experiences through a range of senses, including hearing and touch.

According to the GKL Social Contribution Foundation on the 17th, the tourism support program for the visually impaired will run six times from June 20 through November. It will combine forest programs with local tourism content, allowing participants to experience both travel and healing at the same time. The foundation has been developing a model that moves beyond the visual-centered notion of tourism and instead uses multiple senses such as hearing and touch. Starting with Juknokwon Bamboo Forest in Damyang, Hwanghaksan Arboretum, Yeoju, and the National Center for Forest Therapy, Yangpyeong, it plans to further develop new hands-on content in the second half of the year with the Korea Forest Welfare Institute. In September, it will also work with the Jeju Tourism Organization to offer a customized barrier-free trip to Jeju for people with physical disabilities. The foundation plans to continue expanding its social contribution activities that provide tourism experiences for vulnerable travelers.

A foundation official said, "We will continue developing new barrier-free tourism models that use sensory-based content, and we will do our part to help create a tourism environment that everyone can enjoy together."
