[Sportschosun reporter Jang Jong-ho] A brazen robbery took place in the United Kingdom (UK), where thieves used heavy equipment shaped like an excavator to smash through a bank wall and steal an ATM whole before fleeing.

According to local media, including Daily Mail, masked robbers stormed a bank branch in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, at around 3:17 a.m. on the 16th local time.

They used a stolen telehandler, a piece of heavy equipment that combines the functions of a forklift and an excavator, along with two vehicles, to forcibly remove the ATM and escape.

Released CCTV footage showed the group, wearing black masks, repeatedly ramming the bank's exterior wall with the heavy equipment. As the impacts continued, part of the wall collapsed, and the suspects used a crane attachment to lift the ATM out in one piece.

They then connected cables they had prepared in advance, loaded the ATM onto a truck bed, and left the scene. The heavy equipment used in the crime was later found abandoned in the middle of a nearby road.

Police, who are tracking the suspects' movements, said they are seeking tips from anyone who saw suspicious vehicles or activity at the time, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage.
