[Sportschosun Jang Jong-ho] Professor Lee Eun-young of the Department of Nephrology at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital recently received the KSN Academic Award at the 46th International Congress of the Korean Society of Nephrology (KSN 2026), held at COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul.
The KSN Academic Award is presented to researchers who have enhanced the standing of the Korean Society of Nephrology and made outstanding contributions to the development of nephrology in South Korea.
Professor Lee has been actively conducting research in chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, and hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In particular, she was recognized for contributing to the advancement of nephrology in South Korea and abroad through her research on the mechanisms behind refractory kidney disease and the discovery of new therapeutic targets.
Lee said, "I am honored to be recognized for the value of research in the field of kidney disease," adding, "I will continue to devote myself to research aimed at developing new treatments for kidney disease and improving patients' quality of life."
Meanwhile, Lee has served as director of the Clinical Research Institute at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital and as associate dean for research at Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine. She currently heads the diabetic kidney disease research group of the Korean Society of Nephrology and is regarded as one of South Korea's leading researchers in nephrology, having published numerous papers in domestic and international journals and maintained active research work.
