[Sportschosun | Reporter Jang Jong-ho] A shocking incident occurred at a zoo in the United Kingdom, where a 3-year-old boy was thrown into a crocodile enclosure.
According to local media outlets, including The Mirror, the incident took place on the 18th local time at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a zoo in Oldhurst, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, when a 3-year-old boy was thrown into the crocodile breeding area.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident and are questioning him. Investigators said the suspect had no prior relationship with the child.
The boy was rescued at the scene and taken to a hospital immediately. He is said to be in critical condition, but not in life-threatening danger.
A police official said, "We are confirming the exact circumstances of the incident by questioning witnesses who were at the zoo at the time," and added, "So far, there appears to be no special relationship between the suspect and the victim."
The zoo where the incident occurred opened its reptile exhibit, Tropical House, in 2019 and is known to have operated a crocodile feeding experience program for visitors.
