[Sportschosun Reporter Jang Jong-ho] The Busan Himchan Hospital Cup and the 23rd Dongnae-gu Badminton Association President's Cup Tournament were held on the main court of the Geumjeong Indoor Gymnasium in Busan on the 21st.
Hosted and organized by the Dongnae-gu Badminton Association and sponsored by Busan Himchan Hospital, the event brought together badminton enthusiasts from the Busan area, who showcased the skills they had honed over time.
Matches were held in a range of categories, including men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Participants delivered intense rallies and competed in the spirit of fair play. Cheers and support echoed throughout the courts, filling the venue with a sense of unity built around recreational sports.
The opening ceremony was attended by key guests and athletes, including Kim Jeong-ho, director of Busan Himchan Hospital; Jeong Byeong-tae, head of the Dongnae-gu Badminton Association; Seo Ji-young, a National Assembly member from Dongnae District; the deputy mayor of Dongnae District; Tak Young-il, chair of the Dongnae District Council; and Jeong Gil-ho, head of the Dongnae District Sports Council.
In his congratulatory remarks, Director Kim said, "Health is not created overnight. It is built through the steady process of staying active and taking care of the body." He added, "The passion and effort you show on the court today are also an important part of building a healthy life."
He continued, "Badminton involves a lot of quick movements, so just as important as playing well is being able to enjoy the sport in good health for a long time." He also said, "I hope you all finish the day safely without injury and fully enjoy the joy that recreational sports can bring."
Regardless of wins or losses, participants spent time exchanging the joy and value of health that recreational sports provide.
Meanwhile, Busan Himchan Hospital, which operates a Robot Joint Replacement Center covering the knee and hip, is supporting the healthy movement of local residents through its expertise in treating joint diseases, sports injuries and rehabilitation.
The hospital has also continued its sponsorship of the 2025 Busan Himchan Hospital Cup Dongnae-gu Badminton Association youth division tournament, the Busan Himchan Hospital Cup and the 22nd Dongnae-gu Badminton Association President's Cup Tournament, as well as this year's event, helping to promote recreational sports and foster a healthy exercise culture in the community.
