[Sportschosun Jang Jong-ho] A husband in the United Kingdom has been arrested after allegedly drugging his wife into unconsciousness and arranging for other men to sexually assault her.
Police released the names and photos of 12 accomplices, but withheld the husband’s identity to protect the victim.
According to British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and other British media outlets, the husband, identified as A, is accused of drugging his wife at their home in Stockport, Greater Manchester, from 2004 until last year, rendering her unconscious and conspiring with other men to rape her.
A initially denied all 48 charges against him, but at a recent hearing he admitted to some counts of rape and sexual assault.
He also admitted to producing and distributing private photos and videos without his wife’s consent.
A total of 13 men, including the husband, have been indicted. They range in age from 28 to 73 and held a variety of jobs, including former football club owner and paramedic. Their trial is expected to begin in September.
Local internet users have reacted with comments such as, "People worse than animals deserve the harshest punishment," "It is shocking that such ordinary people are living among us," and "What were they thinking when they did something like that?"
