At the online press conference for KBS2's new variety program 'Welcome to Sookgeun School' held on the 24th, Im Woo-il said, "My schedule was the most relaxed compared to the other cast members. " 'Welcome to Sookgeun School' is a two-month journey in which children and seniors with a 70-year age difference gather in one classroom to take classes together and build intergenerational empathy. Expectations are high as to whether the twelve students gathered from all over Uiseong County can overcome the generation gap and become "true friends.
" Im Woo-il, who serves as the Head of Academic Affairs, explained his reason for joining the program: "My schedule was the most relaxed (compared to Lee Soo-geun and Mijoo). I was in a condition where I could readily agree to participate no matter who asked or when. I have a senior-junior relationship with Lee Soo-geun as comedians hired through KBS's open recruitment process; when I first joined 'Gag Concert' as a rookie, he was the teacher for the 'Bongsunga School' segment.
That was already 16 years ago, but I was reminded of those times while recording this time. I became close with Mijoo because she appeared as my senior on another program, and I called her 'Senior Lee.
'" He added, "Also, I really love the countryside. Even though I am from Seoul, I enjoy looking at rural scenery, so I thought I would have fun doing this.
" Meanwhile, KBS2's 'Welcome to Soo-geun School' will air its first episode on the 25th at 10 PM. Reporter Ahn So-yoon antahn22@sportschosun.com
