[Sportschosun Reporter Jung Bit] In ‘Choi Uisan,’ which transformed into an island escape survival game, DAY6’s Young K defeated the original “Genius” Jang Dong-min and claimed the final victory.
In episode 6 of MBC’s ‘Choi Uisan,’ which aired on the 28th, the revamped program introduced a new concept as an island escape survival show. Yoo Se-yoon, Jang Dong-min, Heo Kyung-hwan, Boom, Yang Se-hyung, and DAY6’s Young K took on missions to escape an island occupied by a cat army, keeping the tension high throughout.
‘Choi Uisan,’ which recently confirmed a seven-episode extension, signaled that it would expand beyond hiking into a variety of genres, including talk and sketch comedy. Following the advice of fortune teller Park Seong-jun, the cast invited Young K as a lucky helper to fill in their lacking energy and mark a fresh start.
That day, the members were abducted to an unknown location and automatically entered an island escape game with a 3 million won prize at stake. The chase by the “cat army,” made up of the winner of the Asia Parkour Championship and a stunt team, made the search for puzzles and clues hidden across the island especially thrilling.
Jang Dong-min and Young K secretly formed the “Junior Genius alliance” and began securing hints. However, Heo Kyung-hwan, Boom, and Yang Se-hyung mistook their plan for betrayal, leading to an unexpected situation in which they revealed the pair’s location to the cats. Jang Dong-min and Young K’s strategy suddenly faced an unforeseen crisis.
The contestants then continued competing to find the captain’s location and the ship key. Heo Kyung-hwan and Yang Se-hyung identified the captain’s location through a puzzle, while Young K used a bundle of keys he had found to try to escape. However, the first key they found was not the ship key. After searching again, Yang Se-hyung found the correct key and boarded the captain’s truck. Young K quickly grabbed the last remaining seat and ultimately escaped, leaving Jang Dong-min behind.
Jang Dong-min chased them all the way on a bicycle, but he was dragged off and forced to get off the boat, drawing laughter from viewers. In the end, Young K beat the original “Genius” Jang Dong-min and won the final victory with Yang Se-hyung, proving his presence as a new brain. He cheered, “Mom, Dad, I beat Dong-min hyung!” while Jang Dong-min burst out in anger, saying, “I’ll chase you to the ends of the earth for betraying me!”
But there was one final twist. When the prize money was handed over, Yang Se-hyung ended up paying the entire 3 million won as the boat fare, and the winnings disappeared completely. Young K wrapped up the moment with a witty remark, saying, “At least hyung kept his loyalty. I have nothing left.”
‘Choi Uisan’ airs every Sunday at 6:05 p.m. In the July 5 episode, Jo Hye-ryeon will appear as the boss in a “Choi Uisan Rebels” concept, and the show will feature an episode in which entertainment’s second-tier stars raid MBC together.
