Group NewJeans will take a break to recharge amid controversy over plagiarism
On the 23rd, New Jeans' agency, Ador, announced that "New Jeans, who has successfully completed their recent activities after overcoming numerous challenges, will take a break to recharge and prepare for their next steps. Please look forward to it and show your continued interest. We're planning to present our fans with amazing schedules and content."

Recently, New Jeans faced allegations of plagiarism. It was claimed that their song 'Bubble Gum' is similar to the British band Shakatak's 'Easier Said Than Done'. In response, Ador completely denied the allegations, stating, "The chord progression, BPM, and the overall mood and flow of the song are different." The company strongly refuted the plagiarism claims and requested that the accuser provide a credible analysis report if further refutation is needed.
Meanwhile, last month, Shakatak warned of legal action, including the suspension of the use of 'Bubble Gum' by NewJeans, claiming that it violated copyright by using their song 'Easier Said Than Done' without permission.
Additionally, Dispatch disclosed a conversation between Min Hee-jin and a shaman, raising suspicions that NewJeans had taken a trainee from Source Music, a label affiliated with HYBE, to form their group. Dispatch reported that Min Hee-jin participated as a creator in the so-called 'N Team' that was preparing to debut under Source Music in 2019. To manage music, performance, and branding, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Harin, and Hyein were moved to Ador to debut as NewJeans.
Ador countered these claims, stating, "It is a clear falsehood that the members of NewJeans were taken from Source Music. We will take legal action in the future."
