A Singaporean man infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was sentenced to 20 months in prison for prostitution after infecting his wife with HIV.

According to Channel News Asia (CNA), a 37-year-old man A announced that he was HIV-positive when he began dating his current wife in 2014.

At the time, the two were living together, and both had jobs, but they didn't have enough money to pay rent.

In response, the man suggested that women make money quickly by prostitution. She opposed it at first but eventually began prostitution due to constant demands.

Her prostitution took place in the Guerlain area of Singapore from 2014 to 2018.

When the woman entered the hotel, the man waited outside.

I used the money I earned to pay for food and rent.

Meanwhile, in September 2017, a woman was infected with HIV by a man.

Despite being diagnosed, the couple continued their prostitution services. The man also told the customer not to be informed of the diagnosis.

The two had not received proper HIV antiviral treatment.

Then, in 2018, prostitution stopped when a woman became pregnant.

In July 2018, they married and women gave birth to children.

In 2019, the husband asked his wife to engage in prostitution again as child support and living expenses increased.

She did not agree at first, but eventually started prostitution again due to her husband's persistent demands.

The wife provided prostitution to customers in the hotel or in the living room of her house, sometimes even while the child was asleep at home.

The couple still hid HIV infection from their customers, but some men were found not to have used contraceptive devices.

Their prostitution lasted until March 2022, when one day his wife told her husband, "I don't want to engage in prostitution anymore."

Also, when he said he would let his father-in-law know about this, the husband "Don't let him in."," he said, asking for a phone number to be blocked.

Eventually, the husband was arrested after the wife reported it to the police.

The husband pleaded guilty to charges such as brokering prostitution. However, it is not known whether his wife was also punished.
