[Sportschosun Reporter Kim So-hee] Singer Yang Soo-kyung is sharing an update on the nephew and niece she adopted.
On the 29th at 10 p.m., TV Chosun’s hyper-realistic documentary-variety show "Joseon’s Lovers" will launch the third installment of its fifth-anniversary special, "Joseon’s Lovers’ Song Contest," which was prepared in response to viewers’ enthusiastic support. After legendary judges including Tae Jin-ah, Insunyi, and Kim Tae-won were revealed, the identity of the final judge, kept secret until the end, turned out to be Yang Soo-kyung, the 1980s and 1990s ballad legend.
Last year, Yang Soo-kyung moved viewers on "Joseon’s Lovers" with the story of how she raised the two children left behind by her younger sister, who passed away before her, together with her biological son. At the time, she confessed, "I get lonely very easily. I think my sister left me a daughter so I wouldn’t feel alone." She also drew a strong response by revealing the wedding of Chaeyoung, her niece and daughter, who got married and moved to the United States. From the close, friend-like bond between Chaeyoung and Yang Soo-kyung to the night before the wedding, when she showed the role of a mother sending off her daughter, the ceremony drew attention. Another highlight was the moment Chaeyoung’s younger brother walked down the aisle with the bride in place of her father.
In the preview video released ahead of the broadcast, Yang Soo-kyung could not hide her nerves, saying, "This is my first time on stage in six years." She also shared an update on Chaeyoung, saying, "My daughter is living well and receiving lots of love from her in-laws." She added, "After the broadcast, so many people looked at me with such warmth. They hugged me when they saw me, and many of them shed tears." She then expressed heartfelt thanks, saying, "As you can see, I’m healthy and happy, so I hope we can meet each other with smiles."
Meanwhile, the mood shifted when the intro to Yang Soo-kyung’s hit song "Love Is a Cold Seduction," released in the 1990s, began to play. Her long-awaited return to the stage after six years can be seen in the third installment of TV Chosun’s fifth-anniversary special "Joseon’s Lovers’ Song Contest," airing on June 29 at 10 p.m. TV Chosun’s "Joseon’s Lovers" airs every Monday at 10 p.m. (Photo courtesy of TV Chosun’s "Joseon’s Lovers")
