[Sportschosun Jo Min-jeong] Comedian Jung Jong-chul shared the news of his son Si-hu's graduation after finishing his studies in Canada, revealing a deeply moving father's love.
On the 21st, Jung Jong-chul posted a long congratulatory message on his social media account to mark Si-hu's high school graduation.
He recalled, "I still vividly remember the moment he left for Canada alone in his first year of high school," adding, "I was worried because he had to live away from his parents in an unfamiliar place where he did not know a single person." He continued, "I always wondered whether he would adjust well, whether he would feel lonely, and whether he could keep up with his studies," but said, "In the end, you were far stronger than your father's worries." He expressed his pride in his son.
According to Jung Jong-chul, Si-hu adapted to life there on his own and continued his studies, even earning the top subject award at graduation. Still, Jung Jong-chul said the process of growing up alone meant more to him than grades or trophies. He wrote, "The number of awards does not matter," and added, "What makes Mom and Dad most proud is that you came this far through your own strength, without anyone's help or pressure." He went on to say, "You quietly walked your own path in a foreign country without your parents, and it is truly remarkable that you never gave up and saw it through to the end," adding, "I am most proud that you have become someone who makes his own way in any environment."
Earlier this year, Si-hu also drew attention for his strong results in college admissions. He reportedly received acceptance offers from the University of Toronto's St. George Campus, the University of British Columbia, McMaster University, Western University, and Simon Fraser University, among others. In particular, he is said to have received scholarship offers from McMaster University and Western University as well.
Jung Jong-chul concluded by saying, "I love you. And thank you so much," adding, "I also feel sorry that I could not be there in person for the graduation ceremony," which moved many readers.
Meanwhile, Jung Jong-chul has one son and two daughters, and he has consistently shared their growth through social media and television, earning widespread support.
