[Sportschosun Reporter Jo Min-jeong] Singer Park Seo-jin apologized to fans after announcing the cancellation of his Seoul encore concert.
His agency, Janggu's God Entertainment, announced the cancellation on its official social media accounts on the 22nd. The Seoul encore performance of 'Park Seo-jin National Tour Concert - MY NAME IS SEOJIN,' which had been scheduled for July 4 and 5 at the Handball Gymnasium in Jamsil, Seoul, was called off.
The agency said it had "reviewed various possibilities to hold the concert." It added, "We discussed a range of options, including changing the venue and adjusting the schedule, but we concluded that it would be difficult to proceed with the performance as planned, so we decided to cancel it." It continued, "We sincerely apologize for causing disappointment and inconvenience to our fans," and said, "We searched until the very end for a way to keep our promise to the audience, but we ask for your understanding that this was an unavoidable decision."
The cancellation is reportedly linked to the large-scale rallies that have recently continued around Jamsil. Protests related to the election have persisted near the venue, raising concerns over traffic control and safety, and are said to have affected event operations as well.
Park Seo-jin has been meeting fans across the country through his national tour concert, 'MY NAME IS SEOJIN,' since late last year. Praised for his powerful vocals and stage presence, he had been set to close out the tour with the Seoul encore performance, but the plan has now fallen through.
Meanwhile, Park Seo-jin made his debut in the music industry in 2013 and rose to wider public recognition through TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot 2.' He later cemented his status as a leading trot singer by winning the final title on MBN's 'King of Veteran Singers 2.'
