[Sportschosun Kim So-hee] Jeong Il-young, a French instructor and YouTuber, showed his 97-year-old mother for the first time and charmed viewers with his witty remarks.
A recent video uploaded to Jeong Il-young's YouTube channel, "The Toxic Introvert Jeong Il-young," was titled "The Korean Trevor with a Wife, Jeong Il-young Is Real (First Reveal of His 97-Year-Old Mother)."
In the video, Jeong said, "I'll show you my own space, my home, a place you've never seen on TV," and added, "If you see this one scene, you absolutely won't be able to leave hateful comments," as he headed home. But as soon as he arrived, he drew attention by introducing his 97-year-old mother before anything else.
Pointing to his mother, Jeong joked, "Don't we look exactly alike? Are you still going to leave hateful comments after seeing this? You can't." His trademark quick wit drew laughter.
He also revealed a photo of himself at 100 days old. Jeong boasted about his childhood looks, saying, "As you can see, I was completely round and looked like the child of a chaebol family. Isn't my skin white? My nickname was White Rice Cake."
He also shared stories about his school days and family. Jeong said, "There were five siblings in our family, and all of them were good at studying. But I was the only one who wasn't," adding, "Since the other four were all doing well, they didn't pay much attention to me. I think they thought one of us could be left behind. But that 'discarded card' turned out like this," he said with a laugh. He continued, "My older sister was a top student from Gyeonggi Girls' High School, but isn't there a saying that the one who laughs last wins? I became the final winner."
Meanwhile, Jeong graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature at Inha University, then studied in France and earned both a master's and a doctorate in linguistics from Paris 8 University. After returning to Korea, he worked as an instructor in the Department of French Language and Culture at Inha University.
More recently, he appeared on the YouTube channel Chimchakman and drew attention with the catchphrase "Patron, come out!" The video has since surpassed 13 million combined views, while the Shorts clips have topped 100 million views, making it a major hit.
Jeong is now expanding his entertainment career through content under his own name, continuing what he calls his "65-year-old celebrity challenge."
