[Sportschosun Lee Ji-hyun] Actress Lee Hee-jin, formerly of Baby V.O.X, opened up about how a betrayal by a man she had even planned to marry kept her out of dating for nearly 15 years.
On the SBS variety show "My Little Old Boy," which aired on the 28th, Lee Hee-jin met with Im Won-hee and Jung Suk-yong and talked about dating and marriage.
That day, Lee Hee-jin reflected on her dating style and said, "I used to like bad guys. I don't anymore."
When Im Won-hee asked, "What kind of person was a bad guy?" Lee Hee-jin recalled her past relationships and shared shocking experiences.
She said, "He cheated on me, and when he asked to borrow my watch, I lent it to him, but he took it and sold it. He also kept me at home and wouldn't let me meet anyone else. I think I've met every kind of worst man there is."
Lee Hee-jin also confessed that the betrayal she experienced in her early 30s was the decisive reason she stopped dating afterward. Born in 1979, the 48-year-old singer-turned-actress had gone nearly 15 years without a relationship.
She said, "There was a man who wanted to marry me at the time, but I later found out he was seeing another woman. After that, I never dated anyone. Whenever I started to get close to someone, I pushed him away first. I was afraid of meeting men."
Despite the long break, she said she is now ready to love again. Lee Hee-jin laughed and said, "Now that I'm older, all the members except Eunhye are married. No one is pressuring me, but the members keep telling me, 'You should start dating now.'"
She also revealed her past dating preferences. "I dated a lot of younger men, and it felt like I had to support them. I even dated someone who hadn't served in the military," she said. "The biggest age gap I had was six years. Now I'm fine with a younger man who has completed military service. I'm ready to date again."
During the conversation, Im Won-hee shyly revealed his feelings, saying, "I've been a fan of Lee Hee-jin since I was young." When Lee Hee-jin asked, "Which Baby V.O.X member were you a fan of?" Im Won-hee joked, "Of course, I was a fan of Hee-jin. But it changed every few months. Hee-jin was my favorite for a few months," drawing laughter from everyone on set.
