The GKL Para Fencing Team delivered strong results after competing in the 2026 Spring National Para Fencing Championships, held in Hongseong County from June 10 to 12. The event, hosted and organized by the Korea Wheelchair Fencing Association, drew a total of 42 athletes from cities and provinces across the country, including 35 men and seven women.
According to Grand Korea Leisure on the 15th, athletes from GKL won a total of six medals at the Spring National Para Fencing Championships. Shim Jae-hoon, competing in Category A, won gold medals in both the epee and sabre events, and took silver in foil. Park Cheon-hui won gold in foil and epee in Category C, and silver in sabre in Category B. The GKL Para Fencing Team was founded in May 2016 to help raise the country's profile through the development of para sports and to create a healthier athletic environment for people with disabilities.
Yoon Doo-hyun, president of Grand Korea Leisure, said, "As a public enterprise, we will work to broaden public awareness of para sports."
