Hyundai Department Store Group, which has continued to support the families of public servants in uniform, will provide a total of 4 billion won in funds to the families of fallen service members from the Army, Navy and Air Force.
On the 22nd, Hyundai Department Store Group held a donation ceremony for the 'Badasarang Navy Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Fund' with the Navy at Mugunghwa Hall at Republic of Korea Navy Headquarters in Gyeryong-si, South Chungcheong Province. The event was attended by Hongjin Park, president of Hyundai Green Food, Kim Kyung-ryul, Chief of Naval Operations of the Republic of Korea Navy (CNO), and officials from Hyundai Department Store Group and Navy Headquarters. The group plans to donate a total of 1 billion won to the Navy over 10 years, giving 100 million won a year through 2035 to support the families of Navy service members who died in the line of duty. The fund will be used for scholarships for those families and to nurture future naval talent.
Since 2023, Hyundai Department Store Group has donated 200 million won annually to the 'Wiguk Heonsin Jeonu Sarang Fund' for children of Army service members who died while on duty. Starting this year, it has also been donating 100 million won a year to the 'Sky Love Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Fund' for families of fallen Air Force service members. In addition, from 2008 through last year, it supported scholarships totaling 2.732 billion won for 788 children of firefighters who died or were injured in the line of duty. Since 2011, it has also provided scholarships to 2,677 children of police officers who died or were injured on duty, delivering a total of 4.97 billion won through last year.
Hongjin Park, president of Hyundai Green Food, said, "Through this donation ceremony, it is deeply meaningful that our group can now support the families of all service members in the Army, Navy and Air Force who died while carrying out their duties to protect the nation and its people." He added, "We will continue our efforts to fulfill our corporate social responsibility by honoring the noble sacrifices of service members, police officers and firefighters, and by offering small gestures of support to their families."
