[Sportschosun reporter Jang Jong-ho] A grisly case has emerged in which human remains were collected from hospitals and cemeteries.

According to CNN and other foreign media outlets, police in Hungary said they recently arrested a 30-year-old man in the capital, Budapest.

Investigators carried out a search after receiving information that the man was keeping human body parts at his workplace and home.

Police said the suspect was found to be working as a security guard at a hospital.

During the search of his home, investigators found several skulls, lower limbs and hands believed to be human. They also seized a reconstructed human face made from facial skin. Additional bones were found in a suitcase.

A heart preserved in a glass jar filled with liquid was also discovered. Police have requested forensic testing to determine whether it came from a human or an animal.

During questioning, the man reportedly admitted to collecting human body parts.

He is also said to have stated that he had a special interest in human body parts and had even made and eaten food using some human tissue.

The man is currently in custody on charges of illegally handling human remains.

Police said the suspect had a deep interest in anatomy and pathology and also enjoyed dissecting animals. They believe he may have obtained some remains while working at the hospital, or exhumed bodies from closed cemeteries in Hungary and Slovakia to collect human body parts.

Investigators have seized computers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones and storage devices to determine whether there were any additional crimes.

Police said forensic examinations will be conducted on all seized human remains, and additional charges may be filed if the exact source and method of acquisition are confirmed.
