[Sportschosun, Kim So-hee] Actor So Ji-sub revealed an anecdote about being advised to undergo plastic surgery early in his career.

On the 25th, the YouTube channel MMTG released a video titled, "Hello, this is Yoon Kyung-ho. I’m here because I’m appearing on MMTG this time with actors So Ji-sub and Choi Dae-hoon, and I’d like to start by talking about what happened back then."

The episode featured the lead actors of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama "Kim Bu-jang" — So Ji-sub, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Dae-hoon — who showed off their lively sense of humor.

During the show, MC Jaejae asked the three, "If you could have only one of appearance or ability, which would you choose?" After a brief pause, So Ji-sub chose "ability."

He then candidly said, "I don't think I can say that handsome and pretty people don't get any benefits." Jaejae agreed, saying, "That's true. In our country, people talk a lot about whether someone is 'pretty' or 'handsome.'"

Jaejae then asked, "I heard that early in your career, you were told you might not be able to work as an actor because of your monolids."

So Ji-sub then recalled his debut days. "I debuted in the SBS drama 'Model' as Kim Nam-joo's younger brother. At the time, the male lead was Jang Dong-gun," he said. "Back then, all the leading actors had sculpted features and deep double eyelids."

"Whenever I went to meetings or auditions, people would say, 'Your eyes are the problem,' or 'Come back after surgery,'" he added, speaking frankly about what he went through early in his career.

Over time, however, public perception changed. So Ji-sub laughed and said, "After 'I'm Sorry, I Love You,' I became a handsome actor."

He added, "It felt really awkward. I was just holding on, but at some point I started hearing those kinds of comments," drawing laughter from the set.

Meanwhile, So Ji-sub won explosive popularity for playing Cha Moo-hyuk in the 2004 drama 'I'm Sorry, I Love You,' and he is set to meet viewers again through SBS's Friday-Saturday drama "Kim Bu-jang," which premieres on the 26th.
