[Sportschosun Kim So-hee] Actor Jang Hyuk's behind-the-scenes story as a candidate for the male lead in the drama 'Secret Garden' has been revealed.
On the 25th, a video titled "'Wasn't she the oldest among the Music Core performers?' Cha Tae-hyun, back as Ha Ji-won's critic, and rapper TJ appears with 'How much do you like it~!' from that era" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Jiwon-i, Class of '26.' The video featured actors Ha Ji-won, Cha Tae-hyun, and Jang Hyuk sharing lively conversation together.
That day, Cha Tae-hyun mentioned Ha Ji-won's 'Home Run' stage and joked, "Just looking at the dancers feels like Coachella," drawing laughter. He then warmly greeted Jang Hyuk, who had once promoted as singer TJ, saying, "Hey girl, the legendary TJ," and Jang Hyuk coolly admitted, "I lip-synced," sending the set into laughter.
What drew the most attention was the special connection among the three. It came as a surprise that Ha Ji-won and Jang Hyuk had never worked together on a project until now.
Amid that, it was revealed that Jang Hyuk had once been considered for the male lead in SBS's drama 'Secret Garden,' which drew strong interest. Jang Hyuk recalled, "Back then..." and Ha Ji-won also said, "Yes, at first. I knew that too," showing that she was aware of the casting backstory at the time.
Meanwhile, 'Secret Garden' aired in 2010 as a romantic fantasy drama set in the mysterious space called 'Secret Garden,' where a man living there and a woman who accidentally enters the place end up switching souls.
Jang Hyuk had originally been in the running for the male lead, but the casting was ultimately changed. Hyun Bin took on the role and won widespread popularity.
