[Sportschosun Kim So-hee] Broadcaster Jung Sun-hee shared an honest story about looking back on her inner self and emotions through a book.
On the 25th, the YouTube channel 'Study King Jin Jin Jae Hong Jin Kyung' released a video titled '"Read This When You're Having a Hard Time" Jung Sun-hee's Advice That Kept Hong Jin-kyung's Mind in Check (+Untold Stories).' In the video, Hong Jin-kyung and Jung Sun-hee reviewed a book together and talked about various topics.
That day, Jung Sun-hee candidly shared her thoughts after reading Natsume Soseki's novel 'Kokoro.' The work tells the story of a man who falls into conflict between love and friendship after falling for the same woman as his friend, and whose life eventually collapses because of an irreversible choice.
Jung Sun-hee first spoke firmly about the protagonist, saying, "I really dislike him. I don't like any of this man's judgments," and added, "I also hate the way he ends things like that and shifts the responsibility onto the people left behind. Every action he takes deserves criticism."
But after closing the book, her thoughts began to change. Jung Sun-hee said, "The moment I closed the book, it felt like the author was asking, 'Do you think you're any different?'" She added, "Of course, I think I would make different choices from this character, but don't I also have petty emotions in my heart?"
She then recalled her own feelings from the past. "I resented the world so much. There was even a time when I hated people to the point of cursing them," she said. "When I saw people cruelly dissecting and digging into what happened to one person, I thought, 'Why are they being so unkind?'"
"So much time has passed since that incident, hasn't it? I didn't leave malicious comments back then, but when I saw someone else's tragedy, I found myself leaning in and looking closer," she continued. "That whole series of actions led me to think, 'Are you really any different?'"
Jung Sun-hee added, "Maybe they were not driven purely by malice. If it was someone far away, it may have been nothing more than curiosity." She said, "I realized that I wasn't any different either."
In the end, she left a deep impression by saying, "Even the protagonist I once hated so fiercely eventually made me feel sympathy."
Meanwhile, Jung Sun-hee married actor Ahn Jae-hwan in 2007, but became widowed the following September. After that, she was subjected to various conspiracy theories and rumors surrounding Ahn Jae-hwan's death, and she later took a break from broadcast activities amid the controversy.
