Krafton announced on the 9th that South Korea, the host country, has won its second consecutive tournament in the 'Battleground" e-sports national competition 'Pubg Nations Cup (PNC) 2024'.
PNC 2024 was held at Kyung Hee University Peace Hall in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul for three days from the 6th to the 8th. National teams from 16 regions from around the world competed for the world's strongest honor through a total of 18 matches, 6 matches every day for 3 days.
The Korean national team led by head coach Kim Sung-min scored a total of 143 points in the PNC competition, winning the first two consecutive PNC competitions.
South Korea got off to a good start on Day 1 of the competition, winning two chicken, and also added one chicken on Day 2 to take the top spot. And on the 3rd day, he shook off the fierce chase of the top-ranked competitors and kept his pride as a 'defending champion' until the end. In particular, he won the championship by beating the U.S. by only one point after a close game. Cho Ki-yeol averaged 1.6 kills and 319 damages per match, being selected as MVP of the tournament for the second consecutive year following last year.
The total prize money of PNC 2024 will be divided according to the ranking of the participating teams, with 25% of the sales revenue of PNC 2024 commemorative items sold until the 10th of next month added to the basic $300,000 (about 400 million won). On the 9th, the total prize money exceeded 450,000 dollars (about 600 million won), and the prize money for the Korean national team exceeded 150,000 dollars (about 200 million won).
Meanwhile, 4,650 cumulative audiences visited the site for three days to prove their keen interest in 'Battlegrounds' esports. This is an increase of more than 3,000 from the previous year. The number of viewers who watched the highest number of live online broadcasts also reached about 400,000 last year, nearly double that of about 230,000.
PNC 2024 will be held as the main event of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's first push for the growth of the game and e-sports industry, Game Esports Seoul (hereinafter referred to as GES 2024), and it also provided fans with a variety of attractions. In particular, on the 3rd day, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited the stadium and held a ceremony to deliver uniforms for the Korean national team with Kim Chang-han, representative of Krafton, and then went on to the PNC 2024 stage to deliver congratulatory messages for the tournament.
Krafton donated all profits from the sale of collaborative goods using PNC 2024's IP and Seoul's mascot 'Hatch and Soul Friends', and announced that it will continue to carry out various activities to develop a game culture that game fans around the world can enjoy together based on cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
