[Sportschosun reporter Jo Min-jeong] Cartoonist Huh Young-man, who recently announced that he was suspending activities due to health problems, left fans with a brief but meaningful message.
On the 17th, Huh Young-man posted several photos on his social media account and wrote, "It was an enjoyable journey."
The released photos showed the filming set of TV Chosun's "Heo Young Man's Food Travel." Images capturing memories with guests who had appeared on the program, including actors and singers, also drew attention.
The post attracted even more attention because it came shortly after news of his health issues became known. Earlier that day, his agency said, "He has recently developed health problems and is focusing on treatment and recovery on medical advice." It added, "After discussions with TV Chosun, we have decided to conclude Season 1 of 'Heo Young Man's Food Travel,'" and explained that he would "suspend all public activities for the time being and devote himself to rest."
The production team of "Baekban Travels" also issued an official statement wishing Huh Young-man a full recovery. The team said, "The journey that has taken us across the country for seven years, sharing the value of neighborhood meals, will come to a temporary pause," and added that it had placed the artist's health first.
Born in 1947, Huh Young-man is 78 this year. Since his debut in 1974, he has established himself as one of Korea's leading cartoonists with numerous hit works, including "Bridal Mask," "Fly! Superboard," "Beat," "Tajja," and "Sikgaek."
Meanwhile, "Heo Young Man's Food Travel" is set to look back on its journey through a special broadcast, "The Baekban We Loved: Seven Years of Delicious Memories," on the 21st.
