[Sportschosun, Kim So-hee] Girls' Generation unit HyoriSoo (Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung Choi) is set to compete for the main vocal spot.
On the MBC variety show Hangout with Yoo, which airs on the 20th, Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Heo Kyung-hwan, and Joo Woo-jae will be seen suggesting that HyoriSoo sing the hot-topic short-form drama OST "Starry Night." The episode is directed by Kim Jin-yong, Lee Joo-won, Kim Ki-ho, Ahn Ji-seon, and Bang Seong-su, with writing by No Min-seon.
Yoo Jae-suk, who created "Starry Night," said, "This song is perfect as a summer season track," and presented an arranged version tailored to HyoriSoo. However, he also worried, saying, "The vocal range is high, so I'm not sure whether HyoriSoo can handle the high notes well."
In response, HyoriSoo engages in a back-and-forth with Yoo Jae-suk and proposes a deal. Yuri shows interest in the short-form drama he is producing and pitches herself by saying, "I want the female lead role," forming an unexpected rivalry with Heo Kyung-hwan's cross-dressing character, Heo In-ok. Yuri even comes up with a bold package deal, drawing attention to how Yoo Jae-suk will react.
Meanwhile, after hearing the rearranged version, Hyoyeon expressed satisfaction, saying, "The song feels richer, so I want it even more." When Haha and Joo Woo-jae tried to push for an investment, Sooyoung reacted in disbelief and asked, "So you're saying I have to sing first and get paid later?" She then drew a line between herself and Hyoyeon and Yuri, launching a high-note audition of sorts as she aims for the main vocal position.
The intense tug-of-war between Yoo Jae-suk and HyoriSoo can be seen on MBC's Hangout with Yoo, airing Saturday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m.
