Hong Seok-cheon, 55, Says He Still Can't Quit Clubs: "A Reward for Youth I Couldn't Fully Enjoy"

[Sportschosun, Kim So-hee] Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon candidly explained why he still goes to clubs at the age of 55.

On the 21st, Hong Seok-cheon uploaded a video to his account titled, "Confessions of a childish 55-year-old man?? Is a late-life craze this scary?????"

In the video, Hong opened by asking, "What do you think about a man over 50 going to a club to have fun?" He then said, "Yesterday, I was dancing and having fun at a club in Bangkok, and some foreign friends asked how old I was. When I said I was 55, they were shocked," adding with a laugh, "I think I was the oldest person at that club."

He soon shared his honest feelings. Hong said, "But I see it this way. Going to a club and having fun is not just about partying. It's about communicating with younger people and reading their culture and trends."

He added, "It is also my own precious time to keep relieving stress," and said, "I became a celebrity at an early age in my 20s and 30s, so I could not go to clubs whenever I wanted, and even when I did, I could not really enjoy myself. This is a reward for the youth I could not fully enjoy."

He went on to say, "So even though I am 55, I will be a cool guy who goes to clubs and has more fun and happiness than anyone else." He also drew laughter by adding, "But if I go too far, please scold me."

Meanwhile, Hong Seok-cheon became the first Korean celebrity to come out publicly in September 2000. At the time, he said the reason was "to be honest in front of the person I love and to make myself happy."
