[Sportschosun Kim Jun-seok] Actor Han Jeong-soo expressed his anger after the South Korea national football team’s loss to South Africa, blasting head coach Hong Myung-bo and even posting a message that said he should "apply for naturalization in South Africa."
On the 25th, Han Jeong-soo posted a series of messages on his social media after watching South Korea’s final Group A match against South Africa in the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup.
In the match held at Monterrey Stadium in Mexico, Hong Myung-bo’s team lost 1-0 to South Africa.
South Korea finished third in the group with one win and two losses, failing to secure direct passage to the round of 32. Its advancement now depends on the results of other group matches.
Right after the game, Han Jeong-soo said, "I am really, really angry," and added, "They gathered the best players and produced the worst match in history."
He then directly criticized Hong Myung-bo, saying, "There was no tactical plan, the player selections made no sense, and he kept blaming the players until the very end. It really shows what the worst kind of coach is."
He continued his harsh remarks, saying, "His salary should be confiscated. It seems he stubbornly held on to the job only for the money," and added, "I hate this more than politics. It was the worst game of the FIFA World Cup."
Han Jeong-soo also said, "Is Hong Myung-bo on the South Africa team?" He added, "Even at the 1954 Switzerland World Cup, it probably was not like this. Because of Hong Myung-bo, I hate football. Now I really hate football."
His criticism did not stop there. Han Jeong-soo later posted an image that read, "It would be best for Mr. Hong Myung-bo to apply for naturalization in South Africa. Please do not come to Korea," continuing his sharp attack on the coach.
He also attached hashtags such as #WorldCup and #WorstGame to his posts, repeatedly expressing disappointment with the team’s performance.
