[Sportschosun Kim Soo-hyun] Broadcaster Ji Yeon-soo opened up about her honest feelings as she shared a conversation she had with her son after divorcing her ex-husband Eli, formerly of U-KISS.
On the 29th, a video was released on Ji Yeon-soo's YouTube channel Yeonsurobda, where she talked about life after divorce, dating, and the concerns of single mothers.
In the video, Ji Yeon-soo introduced a story from a single mother who had started dating again after her divorce. The woman said her child asked, "Are you making another family like Dad did?" and shared her worries.
Ji Yeon-soo related to the story, especially since her ex-husband Eli recently remarried. She explained, "It is not that a mother becoming happy feels like betrayal. A child feels as if the place where they can feel secure is disappearing."
She added, "Children feel anxious, thinking, 'What if Mom leaves me?' They are simply in a state where their own existence feels uncertain. If you explain it well, children can understand."
She then shared her own experience. Ji Yeon-soo said, "There was something that shocked me a little," and recalled, "When G-Dragon made a comeback, I was watching TV and Reels and smiling. Then my son Min-su asked, 'Mom, who is this person that makes you smile like that for the first time?'"
"I was so surprised when I heard that," she said. "I thought I smiled every day for Min-su, but from his point of view, it was the first time he had seen me smile so brightly. And when I smiled at another man, he asked, 'Who is this man?'"
In fact, she had been smiling while watching G-Dragon perform, but Ji Yeon-soo said her son's reaction was both amusing and touching because he seemed worried that his mother liked another man. "Min-su asked very seriously," she said with a laugh.
Ji Yeon-soo also spoke candidly about new love. Saying that her ideal type is a man with a frail, delicate vibe, she mentioned broadcaster Lee Yoon-seok and Han Min-kwan, then joked, "I'll wait for a man who has completed military service and graduated from high school," drawing laughter.
She also described her son's changed reaction. Ji Yeon-soo said, "When Min-su was little, he used to say, 'Mom, you only love me. You'll stay right next to me.' But now he says, 'Mom, go on some dates.'" She added, "He even said he wished I would bring a dad home."
"I was so surprised," she said. "Last year, he told me, 'I wish there were a dad who loves Mom. And I wish I had a dad too.'" She shared the more mature response from her son Min-su.
Meanwhile, Ji Yeon-soo married Eli, who is 11 years younger than her and formerly of U-KISS, in 2014. They welcomed a son in 2016, but divorced in 2020. Ji Yeon-soo has custody and parental rights.
The two later appeared together on TV Chosun's We Got Divorced 2, raising hopes of a possible reconciliation, but they ultimately went their separate ways.
Against that backdrop, Eli recently drew attention by announcing his remarriage, six years after the divorce.
