SK Telecom Teams Up with Korea IT Academy to Support Training in Security and Network Talent

SK Telecom (SKT) is stepping up support to help cultivate talent in artificial intelligence (AI).

According to SKT on the 21st, the company will operate 'ALEPH' with Korea IT Academy and recruit trainees as part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL)'s K-New Deal Academy project to train practical talent in AI security and network fields. ALEPH is a hands-on AX education program. The 19.6 million won tuition fee will be covered by the government, and the program focuses on building practical skills for applying AI to enterprise infrastructure operations. SKT plans to incorporate real-world cases accumulated in AI network and security fields into the curriculum, while also supporting mentoring by current employees and project reviews.

ALEPH will run in person on weekdays from August through November next year in Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan. Those who wish to participate can apply through the Korea IT Academy website by Aug. 10. Selected trainees will work on tasks that closely resemble real corporate environments, including AI-based network operations, security policy design, enterprise infrastructure setup, anomaly analysis, and breach response. Kim Gu-young, head of SK Telecom's Enterprise Business Division, said, "As AI spreads into core business areas, the importance of practical skills that can apply and operate AI in real work is growing." He added, "Through ALEPH, we will support the training of AX professionals in AI security and network fields and contribute to the spread of AI transformation across industrial sites."

SKT's latest effort is closely tied to the SK Group's broader push to develop AI-related talent. On the 18th, SK Group said that five projects from four affiliates — SK hynix, SK Telecom, SK AX, and SK Planet Co., Ltd. — will take part in the K-New Deal Academy, which is overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and MOEL. The K-New Deal Academy is a program in which large companies design and run vocational training and various programs in fields tailored to their businesses, helping young people build skills and enter the labor market.
