[Sportschosun Ahn So-yoon] Actor Park So-yi shared her thoughts on playing a mother-daughter relationship with Im Soo-jung in the film "Shadow Child."
At the press and distribution screening for "Shadow Child" held on the 25th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Park said, "Senior Im Soo-jung was able to pick up on my shortcomings well," adding, "She felt like a real mother."
Set to open on July 1, "Shadow Child" is a mysterious film about Suan, who wakes from a coma after three years and becomes drawn into the secret of a "Shadow Fairy Tale" after meeting Geum-ok, her changed mother, and Jae-in, a girl with the face of her deceased older sister Su-ryeon. The film was directed by Yoo Eun-jung.
Park So-yi, who plays Suan, the younger sister who lost her older sibling, said, "I wanted to take part from the moment I first received the script. It was also a genre I had not yet tried, and I was even more drawn to it because of the dreamy story centered on a Shadow Fairy Tale."
Asked whether there were any difficulties acting with CG, she replied, "It was my first time acting without any props like this, and I had no idea how I should approach it. I talked a lot with the director about Suan's emotions and situation, and I also practiced a lot on my own."
She also expressed gratitude for working with Im Soo-jung as a mother and daughter pair, saying, "Because she had been on set much longer than I had, she was able to catch my shortcomings well and create a more comfortable atmosphere," and added, "She really felt like a mother, so I was able to stay focused on set." Yuna also said, "She created an environment where we could focus only on acting and was very considerate about the shooting order," adding, "When I asked for acting advice, she gave me sincere guidance, which was a huge source of strength for me."
