예정된 수순이다. 4번 타자로 영입한 오그레디는 극심한 부진에서 벗어나지 못했다. 22경기에 출전해 타율 1할2푼5리(80타수 10안타) 8타점 OPS(출루율+장타율) 0.337을 기록했다. 홈런을 기대하고 데려온 외국인 타자가 86타석에서 단 1개의 홈런을 치지 못했다. 2타석당 1개꼴인 삼진 40개를 당했다. 득점권 타율 1할3푼에 그쳤다.

파워 히터가 필요했던 한화는 오그레디의 일본프로야구 경력을 좋게 봤다. 지난 해 세이부 라이온즈에서 123경기에 출전해 타율 2할1푼3리(404타수 86안타) 15홈런 46타점을 기록했다. 퍼시픽리그 6개팀 외국인 타자로는 유일하게 규정타석을 채웠다. 일본프로야구에서 검증을 거쳤다고 봤다.

최원호 감독 체제로 새 출발한 한화는 최근 좋은 흐름을 타고 있다. 두 외국인 투수 리카르도 산체스와 펠릭스 페냐가 '원투 펀치'로 자리잡고 있다. 불펜도 견실해 졌다. 제대로 된 외국인 타자가 합류한다면 중위권까지 도약이 가능하다.
